Every interval has its own shape
You already know that an interval is the distance between two tones. Now listen for that distance — not for the individual note names.
The first tone changes from task to task. The interval is the shape that remains.
Unison
The second tone stays on the same pitch.
Perfect fifth
The second tone makes a clear, open leap.
Octave
The second tone sounds like the same note, but higher.
